Black Metal from France!
It’s been eight (!!) years since DARK OPUS’ last release, a split 7’’ with mighty DEMONCY on Spikekult / Battlesk’rs. Now it’s the return of darkness and evil ! Three venomous gospels were spat this time by the sinister DARK OPUS entity. Poisonous shapes shows some frozen and inexorable raw black metal with hypnotic guitars parts, Crawling bacillus is a harsh and peace-bashing song, including dommy and desperate hints while Insidious curse will lead the disc to a monotonous then menacing end. All in all even if one will of course qualify this as pure black metal, the tracks are somewhat varied in their mood and hopefully avoid boring the listener, let’s be grateful to DARK OPUS for proposing stuff you haven’t heard thousand times before. Originality is THE key. It would have been great to grab a lyric sheet, otherwise this EP is definitely a very good release which grows with every listening. Digisleeve limited to 470 hand-numbered copies, strange artwork though uh ?
